UTA Tracker

The best way to see where your bus is in Salt Lake City — real-time UTA tracking, timetables, stop arrivals, and route info all in one place.

About UTA Tracker

UTA Tracker is a free, independent real-time transit tracker built on official Utah Transit Authority data feeds. It covers every UTA bus route, TRAX light rail line, FrontRunner commuter rail, the S-Line streetcar, and both BRT corridors — UVX and OGX.

Unlike general-purpose apps, UTA Tracker is built specifically for the Wasatch Front. Every feature — from the live map to per-vehicle block schedules — is designed around how UTA actually operates. The data comes directly from UTA's GTFS and GTFS-realtime feeds and refreshes every 5–15 seconds.

UTA Tracker is not affiliated with Utah Transit Authority. For official schedules, fares, and rider information, visit rideuta.com.

How It Works

  1. 1

Open the live map or a route page

Navigate to /map for the full network view, or go directly to a mode hub like /trax or /bus to scope the map to one service type.

  2. 2

Click a vehicle on the map

Tap any dot to open the vehicle inspector — see its current delay, speed, headsign, and the full stop-by-stop trip schedule with projected arrival times.

  3. 3

    Click a stop for arrivals

Tap any stop marker to open the arrival board showing the next departures in real time, including projected and scheduled times side-by-side.

  4. 4

    Browse route timetables

Every route has a timetable page at /routes/[route-name] with the full stop list, service patterns, and a schedule matrix.

  5. 5

    Search for anything

Use the search box to find any UTA route, stop name, or vehicle number across the whole network instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often does UTA Tracker refresh live transit data?

UTA Tracker refreshes GTFS-RT vehicle, trip update, and alert data continuously and revalidates the live snapshot on a short server interval so vehicle positions, delays, and stop projections stay current without a full page reload.

Does UTA Tracker use official Utah Transit Authority data?

Yes. UTA Tracker uses Utah Transit Authority GTFS static data and GTFS-realtime feeds for route definitions, stops, scheduled times, vehicle positions, trip updates, and service alerts.

Can I view UTA timetables for a future date?

Yes. Route and stop timetable views can be derived from the published UTA schedule for future dates so you can inspect planned service beyond the current day.

What UTA services can I track here?

UTA Tracker covers UTA bus routes, TRAX light rail, FrontRunner commuter rail, the S-Line streetcar, and the BRT services UVX and OGX.

Why can a scheduled time differ from a live projected time?

The scheduled time comes from GTFS static timetables, while the projected time is adjusted from GTFS-realtime trip updates or server-side estimation based on the active vehicle position and trip progress.

Is UTA Tracker the official Utah Transit Authority website?

No. UTA Tracker is a third-party tracker built on public transit data. For official agency notices and rider information, consult Utah Transit Authority directly.
